Valuable insights you share here Tomas 🙏🏼 Who is happier - the ones at home tending the small crop or the one's who left? Reminds me of Paolo Coelho's "The Alchemist" in a way.

Thank you Diedriek. There are so many factors at play and each story is different. Hard to say who’s the happiest one.

Beautiful work documenting the real human cost of economic displacement. That detail about kids earning $60 a month in agriculture while dreaming of migration really captures how systemic underemloyment creates impossible choices. I've seen similar patterns in other regions where remittances become the primary lifeline but at the cost of family bonds and mental health. The cycle perpetuates itself because staying means poverty and leaving means a different kind of suffering.

Yes, it is brutal and yet the dream of so many young. I was impressed with the level of courage and commitment to family among the migrants and wish it was a side of the story of migration more people knew about.
